FAQs

Questions we get a lot

Everything says out of stock β€” can I still order?

Not right now. The catalogue is up so you can see what we grow and what each variety is for, but nothing is available to buy at the moment. Send an enquiry with the variety and quantity you want and we'll tell you the rate and when it will be ready.

Which turmeric variety should I buy?

It depends what you're doing with it. If you're after potency β€” supplement blends, golden-milk mixes, anything where you'd quote a curcumin figure β€” look at Lakadong, Rajendra Sonia or Pragati. If you're grinding masala in volume or selling on appearance, Salem, Rajapuri, BSR-2 and NDH are the trade varieties. Tell us the use and we'll narrow it down.

Why do most lines say "rate on request"?

Because turmeric rates move with the market and we'd rather quote you a real number than leave a stale one on a web page. Popcorn maize is listed at β‚Ή100 a kilo; for anything else, ask and we'll quote against the current rate.

Are the curcumin percentages batch results?

No β€” they're indicative averages for the variety, which is why they're shown as approximate. Actual curcumin moves with soil, season and how the crop was dried. If you need a figure you can rely on for a specific lot, ask and we'll arrange a lab report for it.

Is black turmeric the same as regular turmeric?

No. Black turmeric is Curcuma caesia β€” bluish-black flesh, sharp camphor smell, bought mainly for traditional and ritual use rather than cooking. Mango ginger is Curcuma amada, which smells of raw mango and goes into pickle and chutney. Neither is a substitute for cooking turmeric.

Do you sell seed rhizome?

Yes, mainly BSR-2 and NDH, and subject to what's left after the season's own requirement. Get in touch early β€” seed goes quickly ahead of planting.

Can I get a sample first?

For bulk enquiries, yes. We'll send a sample of the variety you're considering so you can check colour, size and smell against your own standard before committing to a lot.

What else do you supply besides turmeric?

Sweet corn and popcorn maize, jonnalu (jowar) and sajjalu (bajra), kandi pappu (toor dal) and nuvvulu (sesame) β€” all from the same belt, cleaned and graded before packing.
